LA FORZA DEL DESTINO Stream on Metopera.org. The venerable soprano Leontyne Price stars in this 1984 Metropolitan Opera production of Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino,” a somber tragedy set in 18th-century Spain and Italy. This production is near the end of Price’s Met career — she retired from opera the following year — and in a review for The New York Times, Will Crutchfield wrote that her “low notes have lost focus, the high ones strength and vibrancy.” But, he added, “In between she has preserved to an extraordinary degree the core of beauty that made her unique. With a broad lyrical line she can still bring tears to the eyes.”
DADS Stream on Apple TV Plus. Bryce Dallas Howard directed this new, feature-length documentary, which includes interviews with celebrity fathers, such as Will Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Conan O’Brien, Neil Patrick Harris, Judd Apatow and Howard’s own dad, the director Ron Howard.
CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA (2015) Stream on Criterion Channel; rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. The French filmmaker Olivier Assayas is back this weekend with “Wasp Network,” a spy movie with Gael García Bernal and Penélope Cruz that’s available on Netflix. Consider pairing it with one of Assayas’s earlier films — like this drama that casts Kristen Stewart as the personal assistant of a fictional French movie star, Maria Enders (Juliette Binoche). The plot involves Maria preparing to act opposite a young American star (Chloë Grace Moretz), while mourning the death of an old mentor. “The story is richly textured with layers of thickening complications, crisscrossing trajectories and increasingly heated, warring motivations,” Manohla Dargis wrote in her review for The Times. “As it shifts from one location to the next,” she added, “‘Clouds of Sils Maria’ lights from subject to subject, among them female friendships, female rivalries, tabloid notoriety, the loss of privacy in the internet age, high culture versus low, and, of course, cinema itself.”

GREAT PERFORMANCES: ANN 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). “Ann Richards has walked through fire,” the actress Holland Taylor declares in this solo play. “And the fire lost.” Taylor plays Richards, the Texas politician whose progressive ideals and outspoken nature helped turn her into a political force in the 1980s — and eventually led her to become the 45th governor of Texas — in “Ann,” which was written by Taylor and ran on Broadway in 2013. The play paints a fictionalized portrait of Richards both in public (it opens with an imagined college graduation speech) and in the private confines of a governor’s office. That gives Taylor ample opportunity to summon Richards’s distinctive energy. “I was going after the essence of her person,” Taylor said in an interview with The Times in 2013. “My goal was to capture it in such a way so the play made people feel an echo of what she made them feel.”
