TYLER PERRY’S GOOD DEEDS (2012) Stream on Hulu and Amazon; rent on iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. Tyler Perry wrote, directed, co-produced and starred in this modern Cinderella story. Perry plays Wesley Deeds, a wealthy businessman who discovers that Lindsay (Thandie Newton), a cleaner at his company, is being threatened with eviction. After Lindsay challenges Wesley’s ability to understand her predicament, he steps in to help her and her young daughter. The assistance ultimately goes both way. Lindsay encourages Wesley to forge his own path and reconnect with his passions. As David DeWitt wrote in his review for The New York Times, “she saves him right back.” Eventually a romantic connection forms between them despite Wesley’s relationship with his fiancée, Natalie (Gabrielle Union).

REBECKA MARTINSSON Stream on Acorn TV. Over the course of eight episodes, all of which are now available to stream, Rebecka (now played by Sascha Zacharias) tackles four cases as a public prosecutor in Kiruna, a small city in Sweden’s far north. In the previous season, she elected to stay in her hometown, leaving her career and boyfriend behind in Stockholm, after becoming involved in the investigation of a childhood friend’s sudden death. Now she works alongside Anna Maria (Eva Melander), a detective, and Krister (Jakob Öhrman), a police-dog handler with whom she had a romantic relationship, to solve the region’s most complex criminal cases.

CAROL CHANNING: LARGER THAN LIFE (2012) Stream on Sundance Now; rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. There are some performers who are so iconic and charismatic that their appeal extends beyond the work they did onstage and onscreen, no matter how excellent it was. Carol Channing is a member of this select group. Dori Berinstein’s documentary highlights Channing’s career achievements — her performances in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and “Hello, Dolly!” chief among them — but it also manages to convey something of her unique spirit. “A preternatural self-confidence and buoyancy infuse every syllable out of Ms. Channing’s mouth in this entertaining film,” Stephen Holden wrote in his New York Times review.

PENN & TELLER: TRY THIS AT HOME TOO 9 p.m. on the CW. Their long-running residency at the Rio hotel and casino in Las Vegas was suspended because of the pandemic, but Penn Jillette and his performance partner Teller have not been idle during the lockdown period. This is the second special that the hosts of the competition series “Fool Us” have produced while homebound. Viewers will have the opportunity to learn more tricks from the veteran magicians and get a peek at some of the illusions that they’ve devised recently. The duo will be joined by special guests, including Howie Mandel and some of the cast members of the new CW series “Nancy Drew.” The telecast will also include videos that fans submitted of themselves trying their hand at the magic that Penn and Teller shared in the previous installment of “Try This at Home.”
