“POV: Advocate,” 10 p.m., PBS (check local listings). Americans have savored stories of lawyers who make the impossible fight. Now here’s an extreme: Lea Tsemel, 75, was once a volunteer Israeli soldier, believed to be the first Jewish woman to reach the Wailing Wall. For generations, she has represented Palestinians who are accused of terrorism. “We always lose,” she once said. Still, there are slivers of triumph here. It’s a tough but solid hour with English sub-titles.
“Rebecka Martinson,” any time, www.acorn.tv. The world is conspiring to make us read a lot of sub-titles. PBS is in Israel; Acorn is in Sweden, for a slow-but-involving story. The first “Martinson” season had a successful Stockholm lawyer return to her northern Sweden home to be a prosecutor. The second (with a new actress in the role) has four two-part stories. The first involves Samis (indiginous people, often with Lapland roots, known for herding reindeer), who face incursions from outsiders.
“Bob (Hearts) Abishola,” 8:30 p.m., CBS. Here’s a fun break from the serious subtitle reading. Abishola’s aunt and uncle have been fuming since Bob’s mother assumed there would be a prenuptial agreement if Bob married Abishola. In a funny rerun, the elders reluctantly have dinner together.
“The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!” 8-11 p.m., ABC. Last week, ABC showed us some of the worst seasons ever — with Brad Womack having two tries and ending up with no one. Now here’s another Texan with an opposite result. Tall (6’3) and chiseled, Chad Lowe is a passionate Christian and a former Texas A&M and Kansas State football player. After finishing third in the 2012 “Bachelorette,” he became the next year’s “Bachelor,” with cheery results.
“Sex and the Single Girl” (1964), 8 p.m., Turner Classic Movies. Using only the title of a non-fiction best-seller, this has some clever moments. The best, we’ll assume, were from novelist Joseph Heller (“Catch 22”), who co-wrote the script. Natalie Wood, Tony Curtis, Henry Fonda and Lauren Bacall star.
