Reena Singh has been named executive vice president, head of scripted television at Macro Television Studios.
Studio president Jamila Hunter announced Monday that she will oversee the studio’s scripted television development and production.
Most recently, Singh oversaw the development and current programming for live-action series for Disney Branded Television at The Walt Disney Company. Her programming highlights included The Mysterious Benedict Society, The Santa Clauses, American Born Chinese and the upcoming Percy Jackson series.
“Reena is a passionate executive with a wealth of experience working with top creators across a variety of genres,” Hunter said. “We’re thrilled to have her join MACRO Television Studios as we look to expand our footprint in kids and family targeted series and the global marketplace.”
Singh also previously served as senior vice president of current programming at 20th Television Studios, where she oversaw a diverse slate of shows. Before that, she worked at United Cable Productions and USA Network.
She began her scripted career at Disney Channel Original Movies after working in media at ABC Network News, producing stories, from political to war coverage in Iraq, for World News Tonight, Good Morning America and Nightline.
Outside of work, she co-created The Salon’s mentorship program, which is dedicated to supporting the next generation of South Asian directors, writers and producers. She was also named one of Cynopsis’ top women in media, in the innovators and disruptors category, in 2022.
Macro Television Studios was founded in 2015 by Charles D. King. The studio has gone on to produce several projects, including Raising Dion, Gentefied and Dear Mama.
