A six-part documentary series Hip Hop Uncovered premieres tonight, Feb. 12, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. You can also watch it on FuboTV (7-day free trial), Hulu + Live TV (free trial) or Sling.

The big names in hip hop, from Snoop Dogg to Dr. Dre, are part of the series. Plus the untold stories of those behind the scenes — the people who created hip hop as a genre.

Set against 40 years of music history, learn about America’s simultaneous criminalization and fascination with the industry from those who shaped it.

Big U (referred to as the “godfather” of hip hop), Deb Antney, Bimmy, Trick Trick and Haitian Jack are legends who built the industry. For them, hip hop was a path to survival and an act of defiance as they launched the music careers of some of the biggest names in the game.
