It’s obvious that, since shelter-in-place edicts were issued back in March, we’ve been streaming massive amounts of TV during the coronavirus pandemic,
But which shows are we mostly fixated on?
Reelgood, a major TV streaming search engine, has a clue.
The company recently pulled data on what its California user base has been watching the most while quarantined, what peak viewing hours are, and the top genres everyone’s been watching.
It turns out that we really, really like “Ozark.”
Yes, the dark Netflix crime drama, now in its third season, topped the list of the 20 most-watched shows by users in California. Rounding out the Top 10 are “Money Heist,” “Rick and Morty,” “Tiger King,” “Killing Eve,” “Westworld,” “Better Call Saul,” “The Wire, “Unorthodox” and “Tales From the Loop.”
The next 10 shows, according to Reelgood, are “Devs,” “Feel Good,” “Breaking Bad,” “Elite,” “Homeland,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” “The Mandalorian,” “Community,” “Stranger Things,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
Of course, the TV-watching landscape is constantly changing. The data period covered in the Reelgood survey was March 19 to May 13 and the third season of “Ozark” premiered right in a sweet spot — March 27.
Other Reelgood findings: April marked the first time California users started streaming more content during business hours than off hours (Uh-oh, don’t tell the boss!). As for our favorite genres? We tend to like drama, action and adventure and comedy — in that order.
