The 10 Best New Movies To Stream On Netflix This April - Forbes

maleomales.blogspot.com

Only three days have passed in the month of April—but you wouldn’t know it looking at Netflix’s new movie lineup. The world’s most popular streaming service has already added an absolute cavalcade of fresh films to its library...and there’s lots of month to go. You could argue that the best of Netflix’s monthly offerings have yet to come.

So which movies should you be most excited about this month? Here’s a list of the most hyped (and some of my personal favorite) options available this month. And at the end of the article, you can find a full list of every new movie that will be added to Netflix this April.

Concrete Cowboy (April 2)

If you thought you’d seen it all from Idris Elba, then you didn’t know about Concrete Cowboy. I never imagined that the possible future James Bond would star in a western—but that movie is indeed now available on Netflix. Concrete Cowboy follows a teenager who moves to a new city and gets pulled into the local urban cowboy community.

Coded Bias (April 5)

Facial recognition algorithms are all the rage these days. This new reality presents a lot of great opportunities—but carries plenty of dangerous consequences as well. Coded Bias takes a look at MIT Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini's discovery of racial bias in the technology.

Thunder Force (April 9)

There aren’t many female-focused superhero movies out there. Black Widow will undoubtedly be the biggest one to grace movie screens yet. But until then, we’ll do just fine with Thunder Force in the streaming arena. This action flick stars Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer as two childhood best friends who gain superpowers.

Diana: The Interview that Shocked the World (April 11)

The story of Princess Diana seems to be forever unfolding and gaining new shape. And that trend continues with the new documentary Diana: The Interview that Shocked the World. This film dives into a famous interview in which Princess Diana spoke about her relationship with Prince Charles and opened up about her life in the royal family.

The Soul (April 14)

This intriguing sci-fi drama from Taiwanese film director and screenwriter Cheng Wei-hao centers on a prosecutor who uncovers a string of occult secrets while investigating a businessman’s death. The Soul stars Sun Anke, Chang Chen, Janine Chang and Christopher Lee.

The Master (April 15)

Most film buffs consider There Will Be Blood to be director Paul Thomas Anderson’s magnum opus. But many others think there’s a case to be made for The Master. Featuring incredible performances from the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Jesse Plemons, The Master tells the story of a mentally troubled drifter who gets sucked into a religious cult.

Into the Beat (April 16)

If you are (like me!) a fan of dance films such as Step Up or Dirty Dancing, then the German flick Into the Beat might just be right up your (and my!) alley. This romantic drama centers on a teenaged ballerina who discovers a newfound passion that goes against her parent’s wishes and mixes dance and hip hop.

Crimson Peak (April 16)

Guillermo del Toro is most well known for his mega-hits, like Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy and the Best Picture-winning The Shape of Water. But one of his lesser seen features is also well worth your time. This horror/romance starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska centers on a newly married woman who uses her ability to communicate with the dead to solve the mysteries that shroud her new haunted mansion.

Stowaway (April 22)

As we venture further and further into space and discover more and more about the planets that surround us, sci-fi movies like Stowaway will become a staple of cinema. Starring a powerhouse cast that includes Anna Kendrick, Daniel Dae Kim, Toni Collette and Shamier Anderson, Stowaway tells the tale of a three-person crew on its way to Mars that discovers a mystery passenger.

Things Heard and Seen (April 29)

There isn’t a trailer quite yet for Things Heard and Seen—which, if anything, makes it all the more intriguing. Based on the novel All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage, this secretive thriller stars Amanda Seyfried and James Norton as a young married couple that suspects their new home carries with it a dark secret.
