THE BLACK POWER MIXTAPE 1967-1975 (2011) Stream on Amazon and Apple TV. Since the death of George Floyd sparked nationwide protests against police brutality, many people have turned to social media in search of resources that can explain the underlying issues that have fueled the activism we see today. One such resource that has resurfaced is this documentary, which is streaming for free through June 12. In the 1960s, Swedish journalists came to the United States to explore the nascent black power movement. They interviewed political activists including Angela Davis, Stokely Carmichael and Bobby Seale, as well as residents of Harlem, Brooklyn and Oakland. About 30 years later, their footage was discovered by a Swedish television network, and the director Goran Hugo Olsson pieced clips together to create this film. He also added voice-over commentary by contemporary figures, like Erykah Badu and Questlove, who explain the movement’s relevance decades later. The movie is by no means a comprehensive overview of the era, but a telling take from an outsider’s perspective.

Jason Schwartzman stars in this charming comedy about a booze-slugging slacker who calls his French bulldog his best friend. He can’t hold a job to save his life, but that changes when he ends up at a Quick Lube and actually enjoys the work.
STICKS AND STONES Stream on BritBox. This three-part workplace drama follows Thomas (Ben Nwosu), a sales associate who faints during an important presentation and winds up losing a crucial client. His juniors are furious, and they won’t let him forget it. Their bullying, combined with stress at home, drives Thomas over the edge, and he begins to wonder whether his paranoia is justified or simply in his head. There’s a touch of humor in the show, yet for the most part, it may not convince people who are still working remotely to return to the office anytime soon.

THE LAST O.G. 10:30 p.m. on TBS. This comedy series, co-created by Jordan Peele, wraps up its third season. Tray (Tracy Morgan), a former convict restarting his life in Brooklyn, has a new girlfriend, but he’s dismayed when he learns that her ex-husband is a bully and a police officer. And his cousin Bobby (Allen Maldonado) is framed as an informer after he is discharged from prison early.
VARIETY’S POWER OF WOMEN: FRONTLINE HEROES 10 p.m. on Lifetime. This hourlong special, hosted by the “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, celebrates women who have been working to help those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. It also spotlights the careers and humanitarian efforts of Variety magazine’s 2020 Power of Women honorees: Cate Blanchett, Patti LuPone and Janelle Monáe. The special will also stream on Variety’s Facebook page, where viewers can donate to the World Health Organization’s Covid-19 Solidarity Fund.
