DA 5 BLOODS (2020) Stream on Netflix. A group of Vietnam War veterans search for the bones of a fallen comrade and a box full of gold in “Da 5 Bloods,” the latest film from Spike Lee. Anchored in the present day with flashbacks to the past, the movie follows four aging former members of an Army squad — played by Delroy Lindo, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Norm Lewis and Clarke Peters — who return to Vietnam. They’re hoping to dig up the remains of their leader (Chadwick Boseman), who died during the war, and a box of gold bars that the squad had commandeered from the U.S. government, then lost. “This long, anguished, funny, violent excursion into a hidden chamber of the nation’s heart of darkness isn’t like anything else, ” A.O. Scott wrote in his review for The New York Times, “even if it may put you in mind of a lot of other things.”

ARTEMIS FOWL (2020) Stream on Disney Plus. It’s been nearly two decades since the Irish author Eoin Colfer released “Artemis Fowl,” the first book in what became a long running series of young-adult fantasy novels. The book’s original fans have seen many things since: the invention of Facebook and Twitter, the introduction of the iPhone, the “Hunger Games” books, the “Hunger Games” movies. … But they’ve never seen an “Artemis Fowl” film. With that original readership now old enough to have 401(k)’s, the series is finally getting the film treatment courtesy of Kenneth Branagh, who directed this lavish adaptation. The plot revolves around Artemis (Ferdia Shaw), a young criminal mastermind who gets into a conflict with magical creatures that live in the center of the Earth (and are played by Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Judi Dench and others). Was it worth the wait? In his review for The Times, Ben Kenigsberg indicated that perhaps it wasn’t. “Although Branagh serves up an occasional inspired image (a troll hanging from a boxy-lamped chandelier),” Kenigsberg wrote, “the effects mostly have a sense of weightlessness, and the swirl of color offers little to catch the eye.”

KNIVES OUT (2019) Stream on Amazon; rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. More than a whiff of Agatha Christie pervades this murder-mystery comedy from Rian Johnson. The deceased is Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), a rich novelist whose throat gets slit. The suspects include several members of Thrombey’s family (played by Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon and others) and Thrombey’s caretaker (Ana de Armas). The investigation of Thrombey’s death, carried out by three investigators (Daniel Craig, Lakeith Stanfield and Noah Segan), makes for a “sleek game of cat and mouse,” Manohla Dargis wrote in her review for The Times.

PRIDELAND 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). The actor Dyllón Burnside (“Pose”) travels across the South to interview L.G.B.T.Q. politicians, activists and others in this hourlong special. Burnside’s subjects include a competitive rodeo rider, Candy Pratt, who is the president of the International Gay Rodeo Association, and a state representative, Jessica González of Texas.
