The 2020 MLB Draft is here, giving some much-needed baseball content to a sports-starved American audience. There’s yet to be an actual game played because of the coronavirus outbreak, but Major League Baseball has been buzzing behind the scenes with the draft coming up while negotiations continue over how the league could safely return while adhering to COVID-19 safety guidelines. The Draft is scheduled to air on ESPN and MLB Network Wednesday night. If you don’t have cable, you can sign up for a free trial with Sling or Hulu + Live TV. The Sling trial is for three days while the Hulu + Live TV trial runs for seven days.

Like the NFL Draft, the MLB Draft is set to be a little differently this year. Normally taking place at the MLB Network set in New Jersey with a number of players in attendance, this year’s draft projects to include more social distancing. It will also be much shorter, running just five rounds this year. Those five rounds will take place over the course of Wednesday and Thursday. Here’s all the info you need to watch the broadcast of Round 1 Wednesday night.

Start time: 7 p.m. EST - The first night of the draft will cover just the first round, running through picks 1-37. Preview coverage will begin on MLB Network at 5 p.m. EST.

TV channel: ESPN, MLB Network (Channel finder: Verizon Fios, AT&T U-verse, Comcast Xfinity, Spectrum/Charter, Optimum/Altice, DIRECTV, Dish, Hulu, fuboTV, Sling.)

Live stream: You can catch the ESPN and MLB Network broadcasts with Sling. You can catch the ESPN broadcast (but not MLB Network) with Hulu + Live TV. Both services offer free trials for new customers. The draft will also be streaming on MLB.com Wednesday night.

Schedule for the rest of the draft

The draft will continue Thursday night with rounds 2-5 starting at 5 p.m. EST. TV coverage will move from ESPN to ESPN2 while MLB Network will have the same broadcast info.

More info on streaming providers:

Sling (Starting at $30 a month, up to $45 a month | Free trial available) - Sling is the cheapest of the live TV alternatives on the market, and can be a little confusing. There are actually two versions of it, Sling Blue and Sling Orange. Each costs $30 a month by themselves and offer different channels. You can get both in one big package for $45 a month.

Hulu + Live TV (Starts at $54.99, up to $60.99 with no ads | Free trial available) - This service has the usual Hulu content, but also provides viewers with over 65 live and on demand channels including ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, FX, USA, Food Network and TNT.
