Irwin, who has hosted multiple animal wildlife shows and competed on Dancing With the Stars, and Powell got married at the Australia Zoo. They were supposed to have a ceremony with 200 guests, but the coronavirus pandemic changed their plans. They had to restrict their wedding to close family friends only, but they did have some added guests, thanks to the animals in the zoo. The location of the zoo has some significance for the pair: They met at the zoo seven years earlier.
Irwin incorporated her family into every aspect of her wedding, and her dress was heavily inspired by her mother Terri’s dress.
“I wanted something very similar because I’ve admired [my mom’s] dress since I was tiny,” Irwin told People. “When I was about 12 years old, I put on mum’s wedding dress and it was a really, really special… it’s over 50 years old because it’s been in the family for that long.”
