SELF MADE: INSPIRED BY THE LIFE OF MADAM C.J. WALKER Stream on Netflix. If you’re looking to binge-watch your way through the weekend, consider this biographical, four-part series. “Self Made” centers on Madam C.J. Walker (Octavia Spencer), a daughter of formerly enslaved sharecroppers, who became America’s first female, self-made millionaire in the early 1900s. Born Sarah Breedlove, Walker started her journey as a sales person for a black hair care entrepreneur before breaking away to make her own products. She started out by selling them door-to-door and eventually grew her brand into an empire. Loosely based on the book “On Her Own Ground,” by Walker’s great-great-granddaughter A’Lelia Bundles, the show mostly concerns her later years and charts her obstacles with racial and gender biases. Critics have said the series suffers from clumsy storytelling, but it boasts noteworthy credits: Blair Underwood and Tiffany Haddish co-star, while Kasi Lemmons, the director of the Oscar-nominated biopic “Harriet,” is a director and executive producer.
I SEE YOU (2019) Stream on Amazon; rent on Google Play, Vudu or YouTube. Domestic drama serves as a backdrop for inventive thrills in this horror movie by the director Adam Randall. As Greg Harper (Jon Tenney), a small-town detective, investigates the disappearance of a young boy, he finds evidence linking it to previous abductions. Then we get a glimpse of his home life: His wife (Helen Hunt) recently had an affair, and Greg and his son haven’t forgiven her yet. The tension hits a new level when the family notices inexplicable occurrences in their home. The mystery reveals itself halfway through the film, when the story backtracks and is retold from a fresh angle. The rest is rife with twists and turns that will leave you wondering who to root for.
THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN (1989) Stream on Criterion; rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu or YouTube. This fantasy from Terry Gilliam is a welcome escape. John Neville stars as the titular 18th-century German explorer, who explains how he would have protected his city from the Ottoman Empire with uninhibited imagination. His tale takes him and a young companion (Sarah Polley) to the moon, the belly of a sea monster and heaven. The movie performed miserably at the box office, yet was nominated for four Oscars. Watch for the impressive, pre-CGI special effects and a cameo by Robin Williams as the king of the moon.

HENRY DANGER 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon. After five whimsical seasons, this comedy series about a superhero’s teenage sidekick (Jace Norman) is coming to an end. Kid Danger and Captain Man join forces yet again to defeat Drex and have a heated back-and-forth about Kid Danger’s desire to become his own superhero. The show may be over, but this isn’t the last of Captain Man. A new spinoff series, “Danger Force,” will take the time slot of “Henry Danger” starting March 28.
