Ghosts

From the people behind brilliant children's TV show Horrible Histories, the grown-up sitcom Ghosts returns for a third series, once again following the misadventures of couple Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe) in Button House, the country estate they have inherited which is both falling apart and overrun with chatty ghouls, from a disgraced trouser-less 1990s politician who can move objects, to a 17th-Century witch trial victim who smells of smoke. This new series sees a documentary team come to film at Button House, to explore an assassination plot that Alison (who can see the ghosts after a near-death experience) and the rest of the residents are shocked to discover involves one of their own. Mike begs Alison to accept the offer of a TV interview for free publicity, but the only hitch is Alison is terrified of speaking on camera. Luckily, the ghost of failed romantic poet Thomas Thorne (Mat Baynton) is on hand to help, so what could possibly go wrong? Watch the trailer here. Premieres 9 August on BBC One, with first two series available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
