The loose remake of 'Walker, Texas Ranger' starring Jared Padalecki gives the network its biggest debut in several seasons.

The premiere of Walker on The CW Thursday drew the network's biggest same-day audience in nearly three years. The return of CBS' comedy block also sapped some viewers from ABC's game show lineup and NBC's Mr. Mayor and Superstore.

A loose remake of Walker, Texas Ranger starring CW fixture Jared Padalecki, Walker drew 2.43 million viewers for its premiere, along with a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49. The total viewer tally is the highest in its time period since Dec. 1, 2016 (Legends of Tomorrow) and the largest initial audience for any CW program since an episode of The Flash on Jan. 30, 2018. Following Walker, the third season premiere of Legacies drew 717,000 viewers and a 0.2 in adults 18-49, in line with its 2019-20 average.

Young Sheldon was the most watched show on the broadcast networks with 7.15 million viewers for CBS, and its 0.8 in adults 18-49 tied ABC's Celebrity Wheel of Fortune for the lead in the key ad demographic. B Positive (5.04 million, 0.6), Mom (4.92 million, 0.6) and The Unicorn (0.4, 3.45 million) all improved some in viewers compared to their last airings in December.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune fell a good amount, losing about 0.3 points in its demo rating and about 1.75 million viewers to finish with 6.09 million. The Chase (0.7 in 18-49, 4.31 million viewers) also lost more than a million viewers, while The Hustler (0.5, 2.66 million) fell by about 600,000.

On NBC, Mr. Mayor (0.5 demo, 3.09 million viewers) and Superstore (0.4, 2.16 million) were fairly steady in adults 18-49 but declined some in total viewers. Law & Order: SVU, however, was fairly steady with a 0.6 in the demo and 3.63 million viewers. Fox's Hell's Kitchen (0.7, 2.47 million), Call Me Kat (0.5, 2.45 million) and Last Man Standing (0.4, 2.54 million) also lost some viewers while maintaining their 18-49 numbers.

Final broadcast and cable ratings will be available Monday (delayed by the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday). This story will be updated when they're released.
