A half dozen CW shows and the NFL's conference title games are also set for the week of Jan. 18-24.
The inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States is set to take place Wednesday — though in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection and amid an ongoing pandemic, it's likely to look different than past ceremonies.
Two of broadcast TV's better-performing dramas last season — Fox's 911 and 911: Lone Star — kick off their seasons in the week of Jan. 18-24. The week also brings the bulk of The CW's schedule on line, along with the second season of Selena Gomez's HBO Max cooking show, an Epix series from Edward Burns and the NFL conference title games.
Here is The Hollywood Reporter's rundown of some of the coming week's highlights. It would be next to impossible to watch everything, but let THR point the way to worthy options each week. All times are ET/PT unless noted.
The Big Show
Joe Biden's term as president begins at noon ET Wednesday, when he'll officially be sworn in. Broadcast networks and cable news channels are planning daylong coverage of the inauguration, beginning with morning news shows and continuing into the afternoon. In primetime, a special titled Celebrating America will feature John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, the Foo Fighters, Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake and others. It airs at 8:30 p.m. on ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN and MSNBC.

Fox's 911 and 911: Lone Star (8 and 9 p.m. Monday) kick off their seasons with, respectively, a disaster in Los Angeles when the Hollywood Reservoir dam breaks and a military tank loose in downtown Austin. The CW debuts half of its regular schedule: All American (8 p.m. Monday), Riverdale (8 p.m. Wednesday), Nancy Drew (9 p.m. Wednesday), new series Walker (8 p.m. Thursday), Legacies (9 p.m. Thursday) and Charmed (9 p.m. Jan. 24). The NFL's conference championship games are set for Jan. 24, with Fox airing the NFC contest at 3 p.m. ET/noon PT and CBS carrying the AFC game at 6:40 p.m. ET/3:40 p.m. PT.

Returning: Selena Gomez furthers her culinary education in the second season of Selena + Chef (Thursday, HBO Max; three episodes). Chefs including Aarti Sequeira, Curtis Stone, Evan Funke and José Andrés help Gomez prepare dishes in her home, and each episode will also spotlight a different charity.
Also returning: Italian crime drama Gomorrah makes the jump to HBO Max for its third season, debuting Thursday. Glass-blowing competition Blown Away debuts its second season Friday on Netflix.
New: Israeli drama Losing Alice (Friday, Apple TV+) stars Ayelet Zurer as a director who becomes obsessed with the screenwriter (Lihi Kornowski) of her latest film. Luther creator Neil Cross' The Sister (Friday, Hulu) centers on two old friends and a long-buried secret that threatens to resurface.
On cable …
New: Edward Burns heads to familiar territory, Long Island, for Bridge and Tunnel (8 p.m. Jan. 24, Epix). The half-hour dramedy, written and directed by Burns, follows long-time friends on the cusp of adulthood in the early 1980s. It has some "low-key pleasures," writes THR critic Daniel Fienberg, but suffers from a lack of incident.
Also new: Musician and artist John Lurie hosts Painting With John (11 p.m. Friday, HBO), in which he discusses life and whatever's on his mind while painting watercolors. USA's unscripted series The Rev (10:30 p.m. Thursday) follows Long Island pastor Richard Hartley and his family.
Returning: The week brings season premieres for CB Strike (subtitled Lethal White, 10 p.m. Wednesday, HBO), Grown-ish (8 p.m. Thursday, Freeform) and Chrisley Knows Best (10 p.m. Thursday, USA).
In case you missed it …
The fourth season of Search Party loses some steam in its second half, writes THR critic Inkoo Kang, but the first five episodes are the series "at its best, especially in its satire of showbiz and the media." The season takes on a horror-comedy tone with Dory (Alia Shawkat) having been kidnapped. The first three episodes are streaming on HBO Max, with the remainder of the season debuting over the next two weeks.
