“A Charlie Brown Christmas” (7:30 p.m., PBS and PBS Kids; Check local listings): It’s time to give that scrawny little tree some love and listen to Linus recite from the Bible. The beloved holiday “Peanuts” special might have a new home on Apple TV+, but it also gets a broadcast airing tonight.
“The Simpsons” (8 p.m., Fox): In tonight’s holiday-themed episode, a cable channel called “Heartmark” comes to Springfield in the middle of summer to film a Christmas movie and Skinner falls in the network executive (voiced by Ellie Kemper).
“CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute” (8 p.m., CNN): Now in its 14th year, this annual special continues to shine a light on everyday people committed to making the world a better place. Tonight brings a celebration of the amazing people and extraordinary acts behind the biggest global stories that have dominated 2020: the fight against the coronavirus and the battle for racial equity and social justice. Anderson Cooper and Kelly Ripa co-host the program.
“A Sugar and Spice Holiday” (8 p.m., Lifetime): Behold Lifetime’s first film to feature a mostly Asian cast. It follows a Chinese American woman (Jacky Lai) who draws upon her family’s cultural traditions to “spice up” a Christmas baking competition. Of course, she also finds love in the process.
“Pennyworth” (9 p.m., Epix): The origin story about Batman’s future butler, returns for Season 2. Now England is embroiled in a brutal civil war, neo-fascist Raven Union, led by Lord Harwood (Jason Flemyng) threatening to control the entire country. Could Alfred Pennyworth be pondering a move to Gotham City?
“Family Guy” (9:30 p.m., Fox): When the family fails to help Lois with the Christmas shopping, she walks out on them and the Griffins must try to save Christmas on their own.
“The Netflix Afterparty: The Best Shows of the Worst Year” (Netflix): This hourlong end-of-year special features talent from the most talked about Netflix series of 2020, including Kevin Hart, Anya Taylor-Joy of “The Queen’s Gambit,” Lily Collins of “Emily in Paris,” Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor of “The Crown,” Lauren and Cameron Hamilton of “Love is Blind” and Rick Kirkham from “Tiger King.”
