The competition show delivers the best 18-49 rating for any series premiere so far this season.
The premiere of The Masked Dancer on Fox Sunday put up the best 18-49 rating for a series debut so far this season. NBC's Sunday Night Football also looks to be headed for its biggest audience in more than a month.
The Masked Singer offshoot, hosted by Craig Robinson, earned a 1.3 rating in the key ad demographic and 4.8 million viewers, according to time zone-adjusted fast national ratings from Nielsen. The premiere aired immediately after Fox's NFL doubleheader and post-game show across the country. The show's ratings could rise a bit more in the finals when out of home viewing is added.
The 1.3 among adults 18-49 for The Masked Dancer is the best for any series premiere in the 2020-21 season to date, topping the 1.2 for Fox's I Can See Your Voice in September. The show will move to its regular Wednesday home starting Jan. 6.
Despite a lopsided 40-14 score, the Green Bay Packers' win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday Night Football delivered the broadcast's best preliminary audience (14.66 million viewers) since Nov. 22. The viewer total is likely to adjust upward significantly in the finals, with the live telecast and out of home viewing factored in. It's currently running about 14 percent ahead of the Dec. 20 SNF, which adjusted from 12.83 million to 15.61 million viewers; should that carry through to the finals, Sunday's game will end up averaging about 17.8 million.
