“Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. Will Ferrell spent seven years at “SNL,” doing silly things — cheerleader skits and such — and them portraying George W. Bush and Alex Trebek and more. A 2014 poll named him viewers’ all-time favorite on the show. He and Adam McKay (a former “SNL” head writer) took a Bush show to Broadway, created the Funny or Die video channel and made movies, from “Elf” to “Anchorman.” Here’s a rerun of Ferrell’s fifth time as host; King Princess is the music guest.

Football. ABC leads a crowded day with a tripleheader — Navy-Tulane at noon, Central Florida and Georgia Tech at 3:30, Miami and Louisville (ranked No. 17 and 18) at 7:30. In primetime, that goes against more football, plus basketball (Celtics-Heat) at 8:30 on TNT, baseball (Braves-Mets or White Sox-Reds) at 7:15 on Fox, boxing at 9 on Showtime and possibly hockey (check Sports) on NBC.

“Magnum P.I.,” 8 p.m., CBS. In a rerun of the season-opener, Magnum is waiting for Higgins to decide whether to be his detective partner. While waiting, he takes on the case of a woman who disappeared after seeing her boss killed in a bank robbery.

“Bad Boys” movies, cable. On Monday, Fox will open its season with “L.A.’s Finest,” based on women in the “Bad Boys” movies. First, here are those films, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The first two (1995 and 2003) are at 8 and 10:30 p.m. on AMC; “Bad Boys For Life” (2020) ia 9:02 a.m. and 9:28 p.m. on Starz.

“Back to the Future” trilogy (1985, 1989, 1990), Syfy. Here’s the whole package, with Michael J. Fox soaring across time in a rigged up DeLorean. It’s a fun ride.
