“Dead Pixels,” 8 and 8:30 p.m., CW. In real life, we hear a chorus of rage whenever Hollywood tries something new. Female ghostbusters? Gay superhero? The attacks begin. We might imagine that these are foul internet trolls, but now they get a human dimension. Last week’s fun opener (rerunning at 8:30) introduced likable young people who happen to obsess on one video game. Now they get word that Vince Vaughn will star in the movie version. Rage ensues; so does humor.

“Tell Me A Story,” 9 p.m., CW. These three stories are loosely (VERY loosely) based on fairy tales. Now they’re turning very grim and Grimm. The nastiest involves a teen’s affair with her teacher; now a scheming classmate knows. A second has siblings, on the lam, reluctantly visit their mother and stepfather. The best has James Wolk as a guy seeking revenge on the robbers who accidentally killed his fiance. Revenge is always ugly, but Wolk’s performance is brilliant.

“America’s Got Talent,” 8-10 p.m., NBC. Eleven more acts perform and viewers vote; on Wednesday, five will advance to the semi-finals. Tonight’s line-up has four singers and a drummer, plus three dance groups (one with contortionist moves), a magician, a comedian and an aerialist.

Republican convention, 8-11 p.m., PBS; 10 p.m., ABC, CBS and NBC; all night, news networks. After spending the first night in Charlotte, N.C., the main program moves to various locations, particularly Washington, D.C. That’s where Melania Trump will give her talk tonight.

“Modern Family,” 8 and 8:30 p.m., ABC. Guest stars spark both reruns. The second has the show’s final appearance by Fred Willard as Phil’s father; he died in May at 86. The first has Alex’s company put her in a classy hotel; David Beckham, Courteney Cox, Snoop Dogg and Stephen Merchant appear.
