YouTube TV users can no longer watch regional Rangers, Mavs and Stars broadcasts due to dispute - The Dallas Morning News

YouTube TV will no longer carry Fox Regional Sports Networks and Yes Network beginning Sunday after the two companies failed to reach an agreement to keep them on the streaming platform.

The loss of Fox Regional Sports Networks means YouTube TV subscribers won’t be able to view upcoming Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars games carried by Fox Sports Southwest.

“Please know that we do not take this decision lightly. We value your membership and will continue to strive to build the best streaming experience possible,” YouTube said in a statement sent to customers.

The company explained in a series of tweets that it has to negotiate carriage agreements with various networks in order to carry their content for YouTube TV subscribers. It cited difficulty reaching an agreement with Sinclair and “the rising cost of sports content.”

We purchase rights from Sinclair to distribute content to you. Despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach an agreement with Sinclair. As a result, we will no longer offer FOX Regional Sports Networks, including YES Network, beginning February 29th.

Other services like DISH snd SlingTV have also had trouble reconciling disputes to carry Fox Regional Sports Networks in the past year. Services still carrying the regional sports networks include Hulu Live TV and AT&T TV NOW.

In August, Sinclair Broadcasting Group purchased 21 Fox Regional Sports Networks – including Fox Sports Southwest – from Disney in a $9.6 billion deal.
