TV picks for Thursday, Feb. 6
WATCH THIS:
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (8 p.m., NBC): Rejoice, all you fans of this great cop comedy. Andy Samberg and the gang return with back-to-back episodes. In the opener, Jake leads a manhunt after an assassination attempt on a city councilor.
“Katy Keene” (8 p.m., The CW): This new series follows the lives and loves of four Archie Comics characters — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Lucy Hale), singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), performer Jorge Lopez/Ginger (Jonny Beauchamp), and “It Girl” Pepper Smith (Julia Chan) — as they chase their dreams in New York City.
“The Sinner” (9 p.m., USA): The third installment of this crime drama follows Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) as he begins a routine investigation of a tragic car accident on the outskirts of Dorchester, in upstate New York. Ambrose uncovers a hidden crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career.
“Tommy” (10 p.m., CBS): Edie Falco returns to series television in this new crime drama. She plays a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for Los Angeles. A true blue New Yorker, Abigail “Tommy” Thomas uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to keep social, political and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland.
“Briarpatch” (10 p.m., USA): This new crime anthology follows Allegra Dill (Rosario Dawson), a dogged investigator returning to her border-town Texas home after her sister is murdered. What begins as a search for a killer turns into an all-consuming fight to bring her corrupt hometown to its knees. The show was inspired by Ross Thomas’ novel of the same name.
