Pablo Guzmán, a longtime New York television journalist, died Sunday morning, CBS New York announced Monday. He was 73 years old.
Known as a “legendary voice” in New York journalism, Guzmán worked at WNEW-TV Channel 5 from 1984 to 1992, before moving to WNBC’s Channel 4, CBS reported.
He was most recently a senior correspondent at CBS2 in New York.
Guzmán covered crime, local politics, the courts and “his beloved New York Yankees,” the TV outlet reported. He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and attended the State University of New York at Old Westbury.
After leaving Westbury, he became a founder of the Young Lords, a primarily Puerto Rican revolutionary party based in New York, CBS reported.
Guzmán also wrote for the Village Voice, Billboard, Rolling Stone and the New York Daily News.
He leaves behind his wife Debbie, children Angela and Daniel, and his mother Sally, the news outlet reported.
