Although television sets aren't nearly as expensive as they used to be, some of the best 4K TVs on the market can still cost upwards of $3,000 for newer models. If such extravagant prices are way out of your budget, you should be able to get a pretty decent price on a good TV during Amazon Prime Day that won't demolish your savings.
Prime Day 2023 will be happening on July 11-12 this year and it's one of the best times to buy a TV outside of Black Friday. Although not all TV models will be on sale during the summer savings event, you can usually find great prices on just about every brand -- including LG, Sony, Samsung, Vizio, and more.
Check out our guide to the best TV deals available right now ahead of Prime Day.
What TV Deals Should You Expect on Amazon Prime Day?
In past years Amazon has traditionally offered the steepest discounts on Fire TVs as well as budget TV options from TCL and Hisense. Both the Toshiba C350 and the Insignia F30 can offer 4K resolution at a reasonable price and will probably be discounted. These are the deals that tend to be unique to Amazon thanks to the Fire TV integration.
If you're willing to spend a bit more but still stay in the budget range, TCL TVs also tend to get some solid discounts on Prime Day. The 50-inch TCL 5 Series is a solid option that is currently under $400 without a discount, so you should be able to get it for even cheaper during the sale days.
If you're only in the market for OLED TV deals, Amazon is likely to have a few of those as well. With the LG C3 now available, it's highly likely that one of our favorite gaming TVs (the LG C2) will get even further discounts during those sales days
Do Other Retailers Have TV Deals on Prime Day?
Although Amazon Prime Day is exclusively for Amazon Prime Members, the online retail giant isn't the only one that will have discounts during those days. Both Walmart and Best Buy have consistently had sales days over the past few years to rival the summer savings Amazon drops during these times.
While some of the discounts will likely be price-matched across the different online stores, Walmart and Best Buy tend to also have exclusive deals you can only find there. Walmart tends to have some of the best prices on Vizio 4K TVs while Best Buy usually offers price cuts on expensive Sony and Samsung models. Make sure to shop around the different retailers before you pull the trigger a new TV.
Should You Buy a TV on Prime Day or Black Friday?
Amazon Prime Day may not be as big as Black Friday when it comes to overall discounts, but it's still one of the best times to buy a TV. If you're in the market for a new TV and spot a great discount on Prime Day, there's really no need to wait until Black Friday. All-in-all, the price cuts between Prime Day and Black Friday for TVs are fairly comparable.
It's definitely possible that waiting for Black Friday can potentially save you a lot of money on something as extravagant as an 8K TV, but if you're just looking for a good price on a 4K TV with decent features, Prime Day is an excellent time buy.
