The 2023 U.S. Open has arrived with four days of pristine golf ahead at Los Angeles Country Club. Hosting the nation's championship for the first time in 75 years, LACC is going to be filled to the brim with the best golfers in the game as well as plenty of celebrities hoping to get a glimpse at the third major of the season.
The expectation entering this 123rd playing of the U.S. Open is that Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka will duel over 72 holes with the rest of the start-studded field looking up at them. However, as anyone who watches major championship golf knows, expectations are rarely reality when there are this many quality golfers pining for shares of a $20 million purse with a $3.6 million winner's payout.
Other than the battle between the triumvirate atop the sport, there is Rory McIlroy's internal battle to get back in the winner's circle and Phil Mickelson's latest chance at completing the career grand slam. Max Homa, who set the LACC course record with a 61 in 2013, and Collin Morikawa will both be returning home to play in front of a friendly crowd from the City of Angels.
