As evidenced during the 2021 NFL playoffs, the quarterback position is vital to a team's pursuit of a Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Rams are back in the Super Bowl after trading away several future picks to acquire Matthew Stafford, a former No. 1 overall pick. Stafford's counterpart in Super Bowl LVI is another former No. 1 overall pick in Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who is one win away from leading Cincinnati to its first world title.

A quarterback is not expected to be taken No. 1 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, but several quarterbacks could hear their names called in the first round, and that includes five of the six quarterbacks who will be playing in the Reese's Senior Bowl. The National Team is being coached by the New York Jets' coaching staff, while the American Team is being led by the Detroit Lions' coaching staff.

Below is a preview of Saturday's Senior Bowl, as well as how you can follow the action in real time.

Preview

Each team will field at least one quarterback expected to be selected in the first round of the upcoming draft. The National Team is led by former Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, who this past fall finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting while leading the Panthers to an ACC Championship. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Pickett threw for 42 touchdowns against just seven interceptions while breaking Dan Marino's 40-year-old school single season record for touchdown passes. Two of our CBS Sports NFL Draft experts currently have the Steelers selecting Pickett with the 20th overall pick in the draft.

The American Team will be lead by former Liberty quarterback Malik Willis, who by many accounts has gotten off to a strong start during Senior Bowl week. An Auburn transfer, the 6-foot, 220-pound Willis threw 47 touchdowns against 18 interceptions during his two seasons at Liberty. He also ran for 1,822 yards and 27 touchdowns over that span while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. The Saints, Giants, Titans, Commanders, Buccaneers and Steelers are among the teams that could select Willis in the first round of the draft.

Other quarterbacks taking part in the Senior Bowl include Cincinnati's Desmond Ridder, Nevada's Carson Strong, North Carolina's Sam Howell, and Western Kentucky's Bailey Zappe.

The Senior Bowl will include several other players whose names are expected to be announced during the draft. Those players include Cincinnati cornerback and Jim Thorpe Award winner Coby Bryant, Alabama defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis, Minnesota offensive lineman Daniel Faalele, Colorado State tight end and Mackey Award winner Trey McBride, Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary, Northern Iowa offensive lineman Trevor Penning, and South Alabama receiver Jalen Tolbert.
