Study analyzes heart rate
,
The scariest movie of all time could be debated till the world comes to an end.
But what if there was actual evidence that proved which movies are scarier than others? Which movies really do go head-to-head with a victor coming out on top?
It appears science has something to say about that.
The folks at broadband.co.uk conducted such a scientific study last year, and they did it again this year to come up with a listing of what evidence shows as the scariest movies.
In short, 250 people were asked to watch 30 movies that made last year's list along with a few more added in from other suggestions and surveys. Each person wore a heart monitor and had a scream room to view the films in. The heart rates were then analyzed against the average beat per minute (BPM) of 64.
Coming out on top in 2021 was the 2012 thriller "Sinister" with an average heart rate of 86. The largest spike was 131 BMP. "Insidious" from 2010 came in second with an average heart rate of 85, but had the largest spike at 133 BMP.
Rounding out the top five were; "The Conjourning," "Hereditary," and "Paranormal Activity."
