KUSA and KTVD, channels 9 and 20, are currently not available for DISH subscribers.
“Unfortunately, DISH refused to reach a fair, market-based agreement with us, which is why our station is not currently available on DISH,” according to interactive.9news.com.
Local NBC programming, including NFL Sunday Night Football, “The Voice,” “This Is Us,” “Chicago P.D.,” and “Law & Order: SVU,” along with local news, weather and sports, is not available to local DISH subscribers because of the impasse.
“We hope DISH appreciates how important access to our station is and comes to a fair and market-based agreement with us,” NBC said at keepmylocaltv.com.
DISH, in a news release last week, said that Tegna Inc., owners of KUSA and KTVD, had nearly 3 million DISH TV customers that were served in 53 markets across the country prior to the negotiating deadlock.
“We made a fair offer to keep Tegna stations available to our customers, but Tegna rejected it, forcing the removal of its channels,” said Brian Neylon, group president, DISH TV.
Tegna stations carry various networks across the country, including ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC to viewers.
Tegna’s “demands” equate to an “unreasonable fee increase,” DISH said.
The television websites encourage subscribers to switch to a new video provider or contact DISH and tell them to bring back the two Denver-area Tegna stations and others.
“KUSA and KTVD are committed to reaching fair, market-based agreements with all the video service providers in our area,” the stations said. “If DISH is willing to make the same commitment, then we are confident that we can get an agreement that restores our station to the DISH lineup.”
Consumers can access KUSA and KTVD programming on many “over-the-top (OTT) providers like DIRECTV Now and YouTube TV that offer instant access when you sign up,” the stations said.
