MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars after Memphis police say he stole thousands worth of brand-new TVs from a train.
On July 26, around 4 p.m., police received a call to the 700 block of Porter Street about a train that was being burglarized.
According to an affidavit, officers saw multiple men loading TVs into a pickup truck and white SUV.
The suspects ran away when they saw police.
One suspect, identified as Vincent Brown, 21, was arrested after a foot chase, records show.
A railroad agent verified one boxcar had been broken into. TVs had been taken and stacked next to the train in a treeline.
The TVs were all Samsungs, still in their boxes.
According to the affidavit, 40 TVs were recovered and valued at approximately $50,000.
The railroad agent verified that Brown was not a railroad employee and did not have permission to enter boxcars and remove any property.
Brown is charged with Burglary, Theft of Property, and Evading Arrest, records show.
