Most people can agree that some of the best things about Christmas are the movies that come with it. There's something about curling up on the couch, hot chocolate in hand, and popping in a festive flick, whether it's a classic Christmas movie or one of the many Hallmark Christmas movies. The only downside of the latter movie option is that if you recently cut your cable, you need to figure out how to watch Hallmark's Christmas movies and get your wonderful, cheesy film fix (perhaps with a bottle of Hallmark's holiday-themed wine._)
This year, the Hallmark network is releasing 40 brand new holiday movies as part of the Hallmark Channel's "Countdown to Christmas" and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' "Miracles of Christmas." Both of the movie series will begin airing on Saturday, Oct. 24, and will run until Dec. 20. "Countdown to Christmas" will feature 23 movies that premiere every Saturday and Sunday night for those two months at 8 p.m. EST, except the week of Thanksgiving, when there will be a new movie every nigh. "Miracles of Christmas," on the other hand, will air 17 new movies at 9 p.m. EST on Saturdays and Sundays.
On Television
For those who still have cable (I applaud you), you can watch Hallmark's 40 new Christmas movies in real time every Saturday and Sunday night at 8 p.m. EST from Oct. 24 to Dec. 20. Check your local listings to see what channel Hallmark airs on in your city.
On Hallmark's Streaming Services or Apps
If you don't have cable anymore but you know someone who does, you can use their cable provider information to login to Hallmark Channel Everywhere, the channel's free streaming service. The service is available on its website, as well as on the App Store and the Google Play store. You can watch the Hallmark Channel live as it airs on the app or peruse a selection of other Hallmark movies and TV shows anytime. If you don't have cable provider info, you can still check out Hallmark Channel Everywhere's selection of programs that are unlocked and can be watched without a cable login.
Hallmark also has an on demand video subscription streaming service called Hallmark Movies Now that features — you guessed it — movies. According to its website, the video service offers countless family friendly flicks, many of which cannot be found on the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, or Hallmark Drama. It also houses the Hallmark Hall of Fame library, featuring fan favorites through the years. Hallmark Movies Now does air holiday content, they aren't the same as the movies airing during the channel's "Countdown to Christmas." The service is available on iOS, Android, Roku, and Amazon Fire for $59.99 a year or $4.99 a month. You can also subscribe to it on a monthly basis for $5.99 each month.
On Other Streaming Services
There are multiple other streaming services that allow you to watch cable channels, without needing access to provider info. Most of the streaming services below also allow for you to view previously aired content for days after, find a movie on-demand, and record hours of content.
- FuboTV: This streaming services houses all the channels you could want from cable, sans provider. It offers a one-week free trial and then costs $64.99 per month.
- Sling TV: Sling provides less channels than Fubo, but it's substantially cheaper, coming in at $30 a month, with a three-day free trial. To gain access to Hallmark's channels, however, you will need to pay an additional $5 a month, which is still $30 less each month than Fubo.
- AT&T TV Now: The cell phone company's basic streaming service package gives you access to 45+ channels, the Hallmark Channel included, for $55 a month, but it has several other possibilities you can explore and consider.
- Philo: For $20 a month, Philo gives you access to 61 channels, including all three Hallmark ones. All you need to sign up is a phone number or email, payment method, internet, and a supported device (Android TV, Apple TV, Rokum Amazon Fire TV, and Chromecast).
- And finally, Frndly TV: This service only features 15 family-friendly channels and costs $5.99 per month, with a seven-day free trial. Frndly TV is ideal if you're just looking for somewhere to watch the "Countdown to Christmas" and maybe the weather.
