What is the best movie or TV show set in Michigan? - MLive.com

Every state has its cinematic claim to fame - a movie or TV show that’s a point of pride for the whole state.

The state of Oregon lays claim to “The Goonies,” the 1985 cult classic treasure hunt set along the shoreline of the Pacific Northwest. New Jersey has “The Sopranos,” and Montana’s favorite fishing meccas play a role in “A River Runs Through It.”

When it comes to Michigan, there are more than a few possibilities. Mackinac Island lovers will likely cast their votes for the classic “Somewhere in Time,” or the older Hollywood glam aqua-drama “This Time For Keeps,” starring Esther Williams.

Detroit, Grand Rapids, and other cities around the state have all been used for movie shoots, and other TV series have been set in Michigan.
