When President Donald Trump delivers the 2020 State of the Union address on Tuesday, he will be speaking to a country that is deeply divided. The speech comes on the eve of a vote in the U.S. Senate impeachment trial, during which Trump is expected to be acquitted. The process has revealed a stark partisan split, with Republicans generally supporting Trump, and Democrats largely calling for his impeachment.
The question of whether Trump will address that turmoil as he addresses a joint session of Congress is being hotly debated. We’ll have to wait and see whether Trump will emphasize what his administration has done, or if his remarks are more focused on politics.
