How to Watch All the Saw Movies In Order Before ‘Saw X’ - Rolling Stone

maleomales.blogspot.com

Do you want to play a game? Well, you don’t need to in order to watch all the Saw movies in order online. You might want to catch up on the story so far given that the tenth installment of the franchise, Saw X is set to hit theaters this September 29 — and this one is said to be “Jigsaw’s most personal game”.

Set between the events of Saw I and II, John Kramer (Tobin Bell) returns, traveling to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in desperate hope of finding a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to swindle vulnerable people out of their money. John then turns the tables on the con artists, putting them through a series of twisted and terrifying traps.

These puzzles and traps are a signature cornerstone of the franchise, giving the victims a chance of survival, but often revealing their own dark secrets along the way, and often leaving them either permanently injured or damaged in some other way. While some Saw films are stand alone entries, this latest film ties heavily into the franchise’s lore, so it might be confusing to those going in blind.

The good news is we’ve put together a spoiler-free explainer on how to stream the Saw movies online, and in the correct chronological order. Read ahead to see how.

How to Watch the Saw Films In Release Order

The Saw franchise debuted in 2004, with a screenplay by Leigh Whannell in his screenwriting debut and director James Wan, also in his directorial debut. The film received polarizing reviews upon its release, but has since become a cult classic and staple of the horror franchise. The Jigsaw puppet itself remains one of the most memorable — and most-spoofed — horror antagonists today.

How to Watch the Saw Films In Chronological Order

The Saw movies can get pretty complex, considering most of them are filled with flashbacks. In fact, the first half of Jigsaw (2017) is one big flashback.

Saw X might be the tenth Saw movie, but it’s not the tenth chronologically-speaking. Technically, you only need to have seen the first Saw film to watch this one, but arguably binge-watching the rest of the movies (including the first half of Jigsaw, which serves as a franchise prequel) will leave you better off going into this new installment. Luckily, the release order isn’t too far off from the chronological order, though.

  • Jigsaw (2017) (first half) — watch on Prime Video, buy or rent on Amazon
  • Saw (2004) — watch on Starz, buy or rent on Amazon
  • Saw X (2023) — releases September 29, 2023
  • Saw II (2005) —watch on Starz, buy or rent on Amazon
  • Saw III (2006) — watch on Starz, buy or rent on Amazon (can be watched before IV or after, given the timeline is a little wonky here)
  • Saw IV (2007) — watch on Starz, buy or rent on Amazon (this is not a prequel)
  • Saw V (2008) — watch on Starz, buy or rent on Amazon
  • Saw VI (2009) — watch on Starz, buy or rent on Amazon
  • Saw 3D / Saw: The Final Chapter (2010) — watch on Starz, buy or rent on Amazon
  • Jigsaw (2017) (second half) — watch on Prime Video, buy or rent on Amazon
  • Spiral (2021) — watch on Hulu, buy or rent on Amazon

How to Rent or Stream the Saw Films Online
