Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister, will star in and executive produce TV miniseries based on 'The Second Home.'
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the actor who played Jaime Lannister in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” is set to star in and executive produce a TV miniseries adaptation of Madison author Christina Clancy‘s novel, “The Second Home.” Clancy says the project has been optioned and the actor is officially on board if and when the series moves forward.
“This is the most unexpected but fun news, and it sure takes the edge off of releasing a novel during the pandemic,” Clancy says. This is her debut novel, published by St. Martin’s Press in June 2020. She tells the story of three siblings, — Ann, Poppy and Michael — and the complicated history they share tied to a fateful summer at their family’s second home in Cape Cod. After drifting apart for 15 years, the summer estate brings them back together, resurfacing old lies and secrets from their past. Coster-Waldau will play Anthony Shaw, a man who changes Ann and the Gordon family’s lives forever.
“I know people have fun imagining who would play the characters in a movie, and now we might get to see!” says Clancy. “I loved ‘Game of Thrones’ and think that Coster-Waldau is the perfect actor to play someone who struggles with moral complications. He’s the perfect smoldering villain, and I think viewers will see why my character Ann would have been drawn to him.”
According to a Variety report, Coster-Waldau will executive produce along with Joe Derrick and Jeffrey Chassen under their Ill Kippers production company name. The project is currently in the works at Sony’s TriStar Television. This would be first TV role since the 2019 end of “Game of Thrones” for Coster-Waldau, who earned two Emmy nominations for best supporting actor in a drama in both 2018 and 2019 for his “Game of Thrones” role.
Clancy also has a second book hitting shelves this summer titled “Shoulder Season.” The book is officially on sale July 6, 2021.
